The Brazilian signed with Inter Miami after the expiration of his Manchester United contract.

Inter Miami have officially confirmed the signing of Brazil international Casemiro on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract with Manchester United.

The 34-year-old defensive midfielder has signed a contract through the end of the 2027 MLS season, with an option to extend it until June 2029.

However, the big signing is already facing complications before Casemiro has played a single match for the club.

MLS Investigates Inter Miami's Casemiro Transfer

According to reports, MLS has opened a tampering investigation into Inter Miami over the signing of Casemiro. The probe centers on allegations that the club contacted the 34-year-old before acquiring his discovery rights, which were held by the LA Galaxy.

Although Inter Miami and the LA Galaxy reached a financial settlement for the discovery rights to complete the transfer, the league is continuing its review of the club's pre-signing negotiations.

In a statement, MLS confirmed it is investigating the matter.

"The league is gathering all relevant information and will refrain from further comment until the review is complete,"

“While Inter Miami CF and the LA Galaxy have reached a settlement for the Discovery Priority to sign Casemiro, the terms will be released upon conclusion of the tampering investigation.”

MLS requires clubs to obtain discovery rights to prevent bidding wars over high-profile international players. Teams are not permitted to negotiate with a player until those rights have been secured.

Under MLS regulations, each club can place up to five players on its discovery list, giving it the first opportunity to negotiate with those players. Because the LA Galaxy held Casemiro's discovery rights, Inter Miami had to reach an agreement with the Western Conference club before completing the signing of the Brazilian midfielder.
