Few duos in sports media history, if any, are more iconic than Mike Greenberg and Mike Golic.
The two Mikes co-hosted ESPN Radio's "Mike & Mike" for more than a decade. It quickly became one of the most-successful and most-listened to sports radio shows of all-time. However, in 2017, Greenberg chose to leave the radio show.
Greenberg chose to prioritize television, hosting "Get Up!," ESPN's morning show, while also pursing some of his own projects. Golic, meanwhile, remained on ESPN Radio, before later leaving the network.
Golic is set to return next month, though.
The longtime ESPN star will be returning to the Worldwide Leader in Sports with his son, Mike Golic Jr., to host their own daily radio show.
But could we one day see a reunion between Greenberg and Golic?
Golic isn't saying never.
Reunion possible for Mike & Mike?
Golic is saying that it's possible, though it's probably unlikely - at least in the near future.
“It would be silly for me to ignore the past if it can become the present. To say that we wouldn’t cross paths, you never know,” Golic said during a recent interview with Barrett Media. “I know Greeny stopped doing radio because of Get Up and everything else he’s doing. I would never say never. Obviously, not an everyday show. That would never happen because he’s busy with his own show. But I would never say never.”
Ultimately, Golic was stunned that the show ended at the time.
“The last thing in the world I expected was ‘we’re breaking up the show,'” Golic told Awful Announcing at the time.
It's been a while, so the wounds have probably healed, and it would be interesting to see if a reunion happens at some point in the future.
