McLean Middle School teacher charged with assault involving student

MCLEAN, VA — A Cooper Middle School special education teacher has been charged after Fairfax County police say he had unlawful and inappropriate contact with a student on two occasions earlier this year.

Fairfax County police said school administrators at Cooper Middle School in McLean were notified on June 4 about concerns involving a teacher's alleged inappropriate behavior with a student. Detectives with the Fairfax County Police Department's Child Abuse Squad launched an investigation.

According to investigators, Eliseo Perez, 35, of King George, engaged in unlawful and inappropriate contact with a student on two occasions in May 2026.

Teacher Charged, Suspended Without Pay

Perez turned himself in to authorities Thursday and was charged with two counts of simple assault. He was held on a $4,000 bond, police said.

Fairfax County Public Schools placed Perez on administrative leave after learning of the allegations. He has since been suspended without pay. According to police, Perez has been employed as a teacher with FCPS since 2025.

Victim specialists with the Fairfax County Police Department's Victim Services Division have been assigned to assist the student and ensure appropriate resources and support are available.
