Mariah Carey has once again caused fans to worry about her health after videos of her seemingly struggling to hit her signature high notes while her hands are shaking during a recent performance in New York City went viral.

As well as being the undisputed Queen of Christmas, the “Touch My Body” singer is known for her incredible whistle notes that very few musicians have ever been able to replicate. And that’s exactly why fans were so concerned after watching her performance at Tiffany & Co.’s Blue Book 2026: Hidden Garden launch event at the Park Avenue Armory in New York City, with many claiming she appeared to be struggling vocally, was shaking, and had far less energy than usual.

This isn’t the first time the 56-year-old has sparked speculation about her health either. In recent months, fans have questioned everything from her seemingly robotic movements to her subdued interviews, with some even bizarrely suggesting she had been replaced by a doppelgänger or robot because she didn’t seem like herself, and others thinking her interviews are AI. And following her Tiffany & Co. performance, those concerns have resurfaced, with some fans now wondering whether there could be an underlying health issue affecting her voice and behavior.

Mariah Carey's Fans Are Worried About Her Health After New York Performance

The "Heartbreaker" singer was filmed performing "Hero" at the star-studded Tiffany & Co. event in New York City. While she looked like her usual glamorous self in a figure-hugging white dress with voluminous curly hair, some fans felt her vocals didn't sound like what they had come to expect from the six-time Grammy winner, hence thinking something was "wrong" with her health.

"Something's wrong," wrote one concerned fan, as a second speculated: "I think she had a stroke. Just going off of how she walks, talks and now sings." "I think she's on some type of medication," concurred a third, as a fourth chimed in: "No it's her health. Idk what she has? Is it lupus?"

"Something definitely happened that wasn't shared with the public. She has never done a lot during her performances, but this lately is very different from that," noted a fifth, as many more speculations about her health continued.

"Something is def off. I've been paying attention to her hands.... it's like they sometimes are shaky, sometimes she tries to hide them or have her fist closed... hold someone's hand so we won't notice. I think it could be something neurological or just something else that she doesn't wanna share with the public," thought a sixth.

As a seventh said: "Something is going on with her. I don't know if somebody put something in her drink, but something ain't right with her." "I hate to say this but... J-Lo sounds better," quipped an eighth, followed by the crying laughing emoji. "That doesn't sound like her at all! Sounds like a drunk person doing karaoke!" said a ninth, as a tenth joked: "I can finally say 'I sing better than Mariah!'"

Others continued the bizarre conspiracy theories, with some insisting it wasn't actually her performing. "You can tell it's NOT her... that mouth! Nope! Not buying it," wrote an eleventh. "That's not her!" exclaimed a twelfth. "Nope! This is NOT Mariah, but she does look like her," said a thirteenth, as a fourteenth agreed: "Exactly what I thought, this looks like it's someone else."

Mariah Carey's Fans Jump To Her Defense

Many fans quickly came to her defense, saying the performance could have just been down to her getting older and therefore less able to hit the high notes.

"Give grace. She's still THEE Mariah Carey," gushed one fan. "Give her a break. Those chords aren't easy to hit anymore and it sounds like it's in a lower register," echoed a second. "She's getting older," a third simply noted, followed by a red heart emoji.

"She's just fine. This woman is older now. Her vocals are not going to sound like she's 20 still," said a fourth. "I will defend her to my death. I do not care," wrote a fifth supportive fan, as a sixth agreed: "I don't care. I still love her." "Leave Mariah alone," said a seventh. "& she still legendary period," declared an eighth.
