(NewsNation) — A disgruntled tenant is accused of killing three leasing office workers at a Minnesota apartment complex over a parking garage contract dispute in what police are calling an “execution.”
Tsegaab Binessu, 30, of St. Paul, has been charged with three felony counts of second-degree murder in the deaths of the victims, identified as 25-year-old Nansi Fuentes Zambrano, 56-year-old Dena Silcox and 43-year-old Adam Wilwerding.
Court documents obtained by local news outlet KBTX show that Binessu allegedly confessed the killings to his roommate, and said he argued with apartment management at the St. Paul complex and “ended up killing three people.”
In an interview with police, Binessu said he’d recently sold his car because he was going to join the military, but said he was told by management that he could not get out of his parking garage contract. He said he went to the leasing office to speak with someone, but did not explain what happened there.
Police said surveillance video from the office shows Binessu speaking to one of the employees, Wilwerding, before allegedly shooting him and Silcox multiple times. He then headed out of the camera’s view before more gunshots were heard. Police said Zambrano was trying to escape from the window when she was shot.
Binessu was later arrested by police in Virginia, Minnesota, a town nearly 200 miles north of St. Paul, driving Zambrano’s car. He had his U.S. passport, Social Security card, new camping gear, an empty handgun magazine and a permit to carry a firearm in the car, police said.
He made his first court appearance on Wednesday, where a judge ordered him to stay behind bars until his trial in mid-August.
