Malcolm-Jamal Warner's widow is taking her fight over his estate to court—and naming his mother as one of the defendants. NBC News reports Tenisha Warner on Monday filed a lawsuit in Georgia against her mother-in-law, Pamela Warner, who oversees the Warner Family Trust, alleging a prenuptial agreement was never honored.

According to the complaint, Malcolm-Jamal agreed to secure a $1 million life insurance policy naming Tenisha as beneficiary, pay her a $5,000 monthly "chief of staff" salary, and make $16,000 annual payments to her on their anniversary but allegedly never followed through. As such, she is owed "no less than $1,276,042.46" plus interest and legal fees, per the suit. Tenisha, who shares a 9-year-old daughter with the late Cosby Show actor, says she fulfilled her obligations and wants the trust to cover that sum as she believes Malcolm-Jamal's estate "will be inadequate to satisfy" it. She is seeking to block any trust distributions while the case proceeds. The actor drowned in Costa Rica on July 20, 2025, at age 54. Tenisha had this to say in a statement to People:

・"Malcolm had every intention to provide for our 9-year-old daughter and me. He was close to finalizing a new estate plan to replace the stale plan created in 1996 when he was 26 years old, 20 years before we met and well before we gave birth to our beautiful daughter. I have been struggling to care for our daughter as a single mom and now as her sole provider. Legally, I had no choice but to take action to protect our rights before any potential statute of limitations expired."
