'It's difficult, and you have to take one day at a time, and everyone grieves very differently, but I'm trying to, I suppose, live my life in a way that Liz would want.'

Friends, family and the community have shown their support with the Galway man highlighting how his GAA team have been exceptional in providing support.

'It has been difficult. As I say with the firsts [attending weddings and events without Liz] but people have been so kind and I really get so much comfort from that. I am back playing football, and the GAA community have been amazing, every game I play, the other team are coming up to me. I have started grief counselling; I just think it’s important to do something like that, but I am really lucky to be surrounded by brilliant people.'

He spoke of how 'Her (Liz) friends warned me, so this isn't the end. We're here, we're looking after you for good.'

He recalled how one of Liz's closest friends sent him something that meant a great deal to him, after Liz had passed.

'A friend of hers sent me a lovely number of screenshots recently after her funeral. She was the first person that Liz told that we started dating. So I got to see these messages that Liz had sent to her friend saying, I've just met this guy!' Almost being able to feel her excitement through the phone.

Speaking about the launch of a new fundraising candle, "Liz’s Light," in aid of Galway Hospice, Kieran said the hospice "were just amazing" and that the initiative "hopefully will raise some much-needed funds".

'We (Kieran and Liz's friends) came up with a scent that we thought Liz would be particularly happy with and then I called over to her granny and her mum, and they loved the scent as well.'

As well as this, an annual 'Walk in Green,' organised by the Connacht Hospitality Group (where Kieran works), will take place on Liz's birthday, August 13.
