Lindsay Hubbard is sharing the kind of mom she wants to be for her daughter.

In a personal essay for The Cut, the Summer House and In the City star, 39, explained that her life looks different after becoming a mom to her 19-month-old daughter Gemma. Hubbard shared that this past year was her “busiest year” in her career yet as she balances parenthood with her career.

“And now, as a mom, giving it anything less than my all is just unacceptable to me,” Hubbard shared in her essay. “I’m my daughter’s No. 1 cheerleader, top tea-party guest, personal chef, party planner, protector and provider; my own mother left when I was a toddler, and I feel like giving everything I’ve got to parenting is my way to heal some of those old wounds.”

“In my eyes, there is no choice. You put your head down, you focus, you love unconditionally, and then you develop, and shape, your child into a good person with integrity, resiliency and character,” she continued. “I really appreciate that my dad and stepmom made me into the independent woman that I am.”

“They instilled those values in me that I will turn around and instill in my daughter. It’s important to show her what a strong female role model looks like.”

Hubbard welcomed her daughter Gemma in December 2024 with her ex-boyfriend, Turner Kufe.

This past June, Hubbard appeared on the More Life With Carl Radke podcast and joked that her daughter is like her twin when it comes to her personality.

“She’s a very social girl,” she tells host Carl Radke of her daughter. “I legitimately gave birth to my twin. No joke.”

“She is a social butterfly. She is a little mischievous. She’s a rebel at times,” added Hubbard. “She will look at me and give me this like ‘I know I’m going to like terrorize you right now, but I’m going to see how far I can push the limits and get away with it.’ And like she’ll be like jumping on the couch, and I’m like ‘Gemma, you’re going to fall and like bump your head, but like if you want to do that, you can do that.’”

Then in April, PEOPLE spoke exclusively to Hubbard about her “godsend” baby girl.

“Gemma’s amazing. She is just a godsend. She’s 16 months old,” she said at the time. “I feel like I honestly gave birth to my twin. I’m apologizing to my parents all the time because I’m like, ‘I’m exhausted.’ But she has all the elements that you want in a kid.”

The proud mom also gushed about her daughter’s “big personality.”

“She’s fearless. She’s a tomboy, but she’s a girly girl. She loves to cuddle, play, socialize, and wants to be the mayor everywhere she goes, saying hi to everyone. She blows kisses. She takes flowers off of tables, and hands them to people,” Hubbard told PEOPLE.
