A popular building-block toy company will be opening a new location in the Kansas City area this Friday.
LEGO will cut the ribbon at 10 a.m. at 4411 W. 119th St. in the Town Center Crossing in Leawood, marking the 120th store in the country. It’s a move from their last location, which was inside the Oak Park Mall, according to a news release. The new storefront is a 2,368-square-foot space that will offer a large range of LEGO products, including exclusive sets like LEGO Icons Lord of the Rings: Minas Tirith.
The popular toy company was founded by Ole Kirk Kristiansen in Denmark in 1932 as a way to inspire and develop builders through play. The bricks allow children and fans to build anything from their imagination, according to the release. Still a family-owned business, its products are sold in over 140 countries around the world, including LEGO sets like LEGO City, LEGO Ninjago and LEGO Star Wars.
LEGO will be offering promotions over the opening weekend, including an I heart LEGO store tile for the first 750 guests each day, a new store opening ribbon cutting set, a LEGO store set with any purchase of $120 on Saturday and a reusable tote with a purchase of $50 July 26 through Aug. 1, according to the release.
The store will also have activities like a photo opportunity inside a LEGO yellow bag installation and an entry to win a $1,000 LEGO gift card.
LEGO will be open seven days a week.
