After a four-year absence from the cover of an EA Sports video game, France & Real Madrid superstar Kylian Mbappe will return as the face of EA’s FC27 Ultimate Edition.
Set to release in the middle of September 2026, this will be the fourth time Mbappe graces the cover of EA’s signature soccer video game, which was previously known as EA Sports FIFA.
With this fourth appearance as a cover star, Mbappe ties Lionel Messi third all-time for the honors at four apiece, while Brazil’s Ronaldinho (5) and England’s Wayne Rooney (6) still rank above the two.

When discussing the selection, EA Sports Jeff Sharm said: “Kylian’s achievements for both club and country have established him as one of the defining players of his generation.”
Coming off an impressive World Cup performance, Mbappe led France all the way to the semifinals but was unable to outlast Spain, who would go on to win the FIFA World Cup Trophy against Argentina in the final.
Still, the French striker would take home his own hardware, being named the 2026 World Cup Golden Boot winner after scoring 10 goals throughout the tournament.
This would be the second Golden Boot at the World Cup in Mbappe’s career, making him the first player in soccer history to do so.

Real Madrid’s star striker also made himself the all-time leading scorer in FIFA World Cup history this summer.
After dueling with Lionel Messi on the leaderboards, Mbappe eventually passed the soccer legend to put his own name at the No. 1 spot with 22 goals and counting.
At just 27 years old, Mbappe likely has three more World Cups left in his career if he plays another decade and some change, which could help keep the Frenchman at the top of the list if he continues to score at his current pace.
