NBA veteran Klay Thompson is entering the final season of the three-year, $50 million contract he signed with the Dallas Mavericks before the 2024-25 season.
Seeing Thompson play in a Mavericks jersey has been strange for many NBA fans. He spent the first 11 seasons of his NBA career as one half of the “Splash Brothers” alongside Steph Curry, helping the Warriors secure four NBA championship titles.
While signing autographs at a Fanatics Fest event in New York City, a fan asked Thompson if he would ever go back to Golden State.
“Shoot, I don’t know. I’ve got one more year on my deal. It’d be nice to end it in Golden State,” Thompson replied.
Thompson appeared in 72 games for the Mavericks in 2024-25, averaging 14 points per game on 41.2% shooting from the field. Through 69 appearances this past season, the 36-year-old shooting guard averaged 11.7 points per game on 39.3% shooting from the field.
“Honestly, it’s rejuvenated me and done something I needed bad just for my mental and my career,” Thompson said after leaving Golden State in 2024. “So, I really feel the love here, and I feel highly valued that I can do great things.”
