“Jimmy Kimmel Live” guest host Colman Domingo on Wednesday didn’t use Donald Trump’s name once during his opening monologue. But he managed to get a dig in at the president just the same.
Right-wing figures, including Elon Musk, have been melting down over “The Odyssey,” the new Christopher Nolan film that opened to rave reviews and massive box office numbers.
Their problem? The diverse cast.
“Elon Musk is planning to create what he calls a historically accurate version of ‘The Odyssey’ using his Grok AI,” Domingo said. “And by ‘historically accurate,’ he means whiter than Christmas at Cracker Barrel.”
But as Domingo noted, there’s one major roadblock to a “historically accurate” version of “The Odyssey.”
“You can’t make a historically accurate version of something that is totally made the **** up,” he pointed out. “I mean, ‘The Odyssey’ is fiction, you know, like ‘The Hunger Games’ – or the president’s cognitive exams.”
Then, the actor got in an extra dig at Musk.
“But maybe we should show a little compassion for Elon. This is a tough time for him,” Domingo said. “Helen of Troy is a beautiful Black woman. And this week, Jimmy Kimmel is a beautiful Black man.”
