The Dawson’s Creek star, 47, was recently spotted strolling around New York City in a sleek (and not schlubby!) outfit consisting of a silky-looking slip dress and black Mary Janes, a shoe trend celebrities keep wearing. She then finished off the look with a colorful Hawaiian shirt and a black bag.
The getup was classy yet breathable — and even more so, if she decided to shed the top layer — and most importantly, extremely comfy. (Who wants to wear hot, clingy clothes when temperatures are extra brutal?) TL;DR: Holmes is inspiring me to slip into something similar, like the styles down below.
Quince 100% Washable Silk Slip Dress
Not only are slip dresses like this one super airy for hot, sticky days, but they’re also lightweight enough to pack into a carry-on or suitcase. I’m not sure where exactly Holmes bought her flats, but I do know A) she’s worn Franco Sarto shoes before, and B) the brand is very comfortable — I own a pair of its heels and can wear them all night without blisters or aches and pains.
This pair has a shiny patent finish, much like Holmes’, and an adjustable leather strap that won’t stretch out over time like those with elastic ones. They also have built-in cushioning that makes them wearable for long periods of time. “They are beautiful and oh so comfortable. I’m a teacher and can be up on my feet all day, and they don’t bother me,” said one shopper.

On vacation, I like to go all out with my accessories — which is great in theory, but it doesn’t always work out. This bag, however, has both a handle and a crossbody strap, so I can carry it by hand at the beginning of the day, but transition over to a hands-free approach once the night wears on.
