Karoline Leavitt came under fire on social media as critics begged for 'help' after she shared a post boasting about the economy under Donald Trump.
On Tuesday, July 21, the 28-year-old White House Press Secretary shared an opinion article from Fox News on X with the caption, "The Trump economy is doing better than the media wants to admit." Critics quickly flocked to the comments to condemn Karoline's claims about the current state of the economy, challenging the political personality to live like a 'normal' American under Trump's presidency.
The latest backlash comes after Karoline Leavitt shared a career update after maternity leave, but critics ask, "Who cares?"

The opinion article challenged a recent CNBC poll that showed "61% of the public is pessimistic about the current state of the economy and about the outlook for the future," as well as a Washington Post-Ipsos poll that showed the president's approval rating on the economy to be an abysmal 33%.
Critics disagreed with unverified claims that "prices are falling and output economic growth is rising," with one X user begging, "Can we get some mortgage rate help for the love of god! Maybe some help with normal everyday life stuff. Glad the market is doing great now bring down prices even more!"
Others challenged Karoline, who recently returned to her post as Press Secretary after taking maternity leave, to live like a "normal American," echoing complaints about feeling economically unsound as a result of Donald Trump's policies.
"The American people who are living with this economy would say otherwise," one wrote, as another noted, "No, it’s not. America is in a hot mess right now."
Several piled on in the comments, writing "No one cares what the media says, we care what our wallets say!" and "No it’s NOT, KAROLINE! Come out here and live like a normal American and see for yourself."
Another wrote, "And more then than the economic data cares to admit, sugar plum. Wishful thinking has never achieved anything. ALL DOWN: consumer confidence and new jobs. ALL UP: inflation, bond yields, producer prices and pessimism. Join the real world, Karo."
Recently, Trump has rejected reports that the country is experiencing an affordability crisis, casting doubt on rising inflation while dismissing the rising cost of living as a "hoax" created by Democrats. Karoline echoed Trump's claims, blaming the "media" for its coverage of the economy.
The backlash comes amid Karoline's return from eight weeks of maternity leave following the birth of her second child in May. During her absence, her position was filled by several members of the Trump administration, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Vice President JD Vance, and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.
