A fan-favorite of UFC yesteryear is back, competing for the first time in six years.
Joe Lauzon made his signing known for BKFC 92 at Fenway Park in Boston – and now his Aug. 29 opponent has been revealed. Lauzon (0-0) will battle Stash Kuykendall (0-2) in a welterweight bout, he announced Tuesday on Instagram.
Arkansas' Kuykendall, 34, hasn't found success in bareknuckle boxing yet, having been finished in both his BKFC appearances. However, he's a 6-2 MMA pro and 1-0 pro boxer.
Lauzon, 41, most recently competed in October 2019 when he defeated Jonathan Pearce at TD Garden. At the time, it was viewed as a potential sendoff for the UFC performance bonus machine. UFC CEO Dana White and Lauzon voiced differing opinions on his fighting future after the bout. Ultimately, the promotion came around and booked him vs. Donald Cerrone. But that bout wasn't meant to be. Three times it was canceled and Lauzon was never put on the UFC schedule again.
