Jennifer Aniston has reportedly stepped away from Jennette McCurdy's I'm Glad My Mom Died TV show adaptation.
Multiple outlets reported on Tuesday, July 21, that Aniston, 57, exited from the AppleTV+ project due to a scheduling conflict. Sources told TMZ on Tuesday that McCurdy's show is still being worked on, with scripts being written.
Us Weekly reached out to AppleTV and Aniston's reps for comment.
Aniston was set to play McCurdy's mother on screen, while also serving as an executive producer. The show would have marked her second lead role in a TV show since Friends ended in 2004, with Aniston's AppleTV+ hit series The Morning Show debuting in 2021.

Apple TV+ greenlit a series order for I'm Glad My Mom Died in July 2025, with the first season consisting of 10 episodes. The series is reportedly being written, executive produced and showrun by McCurdy, 34, and Ari Katcher. Sharon Horgan and Merman, LuckyChap, Jerrod Carmichael and Erica Kay are also serving as executive producers.
Based on the synopsis, the show is "a heartbreaking and hilarious recounting of McCurdy's struggles as a former child actor while dealing with her overbearing, domineering mother." I'm Glad My Mom Died will "center on the codependent relationship between an 18-year-old actress in a hit kid's show, and her narcissistic mother who relishes in her identity as ‘a starlet's mother.'"
McCurdy, who got her start as a child star in Nickelodeon's iCarly and Sam & Cat, released her memoir in 2022. The book became a bestseller, following the story of McCurdy's childhood and abusive behavior from her mother, Debra McCurdy, who died in 2013.
"It's something I mean sincerely," Jennette told BuzzFeed News in August 2022 about the title of her book. "I'm genuinely glad. If she were alive, I'd still be trapped. Every important decision in my life wouldn't have been possible."

In a separate interview after the book was released, Jennette got candid about her complicated relationship with her mother.
"I've been so touched by how much the emotional thrust of the story has connected with people, which I see as being my relationship with my mom," Jennette said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. "That's an important and complicated relational dynamic to explore, and to see that people are responding to it has been amazing. And to see people responding to the humor of it and the aspect of exploring eating disorders and complicated grief, it's really been incredible."
