Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has reportedly engaged in discussions about investing in Liverpool FC as negotiations with owners FSG progress.
Mr Bezos, believed to be the world's fourth-wealthiest person, has been contacted by a consortium headed by Amit Bhatia, the son-in-law of steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal, who stepped away from his controlling interest at Queens Park Rangers to pursue a deal for the Reds.
A spokesperson for FSG previously told the ECHO: "An investment consortium led, managed, and represented by Amit Bhatia has expressed interest in making a strategic minority investment in Liverpool Football Club."

Nevertheless, Mr Bezos is 'not certain to proceed' with joining the consortium, the report adds. It remains unclear how much of the club Mr Bhatia's group are interested in purchasing, with some suggestions indicating they could take up to a 30 percent stake, valuing the club at roughly $6 billion (£4.485b).
Mr Bezos' rumored involvement would extend the pattern of American capital flowing into the Premier League. Approximately half of the 20 top-flight clubs are partially or entirely owned by US entities, including Manchester United with the Glazer family, Arsenal with Stan Kroenke, and Leeds United with San Francisco 49ers Enterprises.
FSG are among the Premier League's most established American owners, assuming control of the Reds in 2010. Under John W. Henry's leadership, the club has captured three EFL Cups, two Premier League titles, a UEFA Champions League, a FIFA Club World Cup success, and an FA Cup during that period.
A new era is dawning at Anfield this summer, with Andoni Iraola taking charge of the dugout. He faces the challenge of surpassing Liverpool's fifth-place finish under Arne Slot last season, a deeply disappointing result following the club's dominant Premier League title triumph in 2025.

Iraola has moved swiftly to reshape his roster, securing World Cup winner Victor Munoz for a reported £34.5 million ($46.1 million). On July 21, the club officially confirmed the acquisition of young talent Samuel Martinez from Colombian side Atlético Nacional ahead of the 2027-28 season.
