Northbound traffic on the Southwest Freeway near the Sam Houston Tollway came to a crawl Wednesday evening when a car fell from the elevated HOV lanes onto the freeway below, authorities said.

Northbound traffic on the Southwest Freeway near the Sam Houston Tollway came to a crawl Wednesday evening when a car fell from the elevated HOV lanes onto the freeway below, authorities said.

Three people were injured and taken to an area hospital, OnScene.TV reported, citing Houston police.

HPD and Metro Police were investigating the crash, which occurred sometime around 8 p.m.

Multiple northbound lanes on the Southwest Freeway remained closed late Wednesday.
