High temperature metals maker ATI entered a buy range as analysts look out for accelerated earnings growth on Aug. 6.

ATIATI, maker of extraordinarily tough and high temperature metals, is the IBD Stock Of The Day. Its aerospace and defense customers include GE AerospaceGE, RTXRTX and BoeingBA.

Fresh off an aerospace factory launch in Mexico and a CEO stock sale totaling $7.3 million, ATI has risen more than 71% in 2026 It's entered a buy range as it rebounds from its 50-day moving average, trading down about a tenth of a percent to around 197 per share on Wednesday afternoon.

Analysts Spy Accelerated Earnings Growth

Based in Dallas, Texas, the former Allegheny Technologies is due to report its second-quarter earnings on Aug. 6. ATI has posted average earnings growth of 32.8% over the prior three quarters. Analysts expect the company to report accelerated earnings of $1.02 per share, per a FactSet consensus, up 45.7% from $0.70 in Q2 2025.

ATI also broke above a downward trend line, offering an additional buy opportunity, and rebounding above support at its 21-day exponential moving average.

The company ranks No. 5 in IBD's aerospace/defense industry group, with an 87 Composite Rating and a 94 EPS Rating.

Metals That Withstand Extreme Heat ... For What?

Until 2020, ATI derived almost 40% of its revenue from rolled metals. The company switched focus to advanced alloys, which now represent around 45% of its income; the rest is attributed to its high-performance materials segment.

ATI forges stuff that can endure the temperature and stress extremes inherent in supersonic flight, deep-sea subs, oil and gas production, weapons and armor production, superalloy medical implants, and MRI machines. Said stuff includes high temperature metals and alloys for superconducting magnets.
