Ryan Gosling will surely be singing with glee over La La Hand's rebrand.
Two years after the La La Land star jokingly admitted that his pose on the poster for the 2016 movie musical "haunts" him, Lionsgate unveiled a new poster in honor of the film's 10th anniversary, only making one small update: Gosling's hand.
As the film studio captioned a July 21 Instagram post revealing the new poster, "a minor adjustment."
The original poster for the Oscar-winning film starring Gosling and Emma Stone featured a shot of the actors taken mid-dance for the song "A Lovely Night," in which they danced together against the Los Angeles skyline in Griffith Park. Although both stars had one of their arms raised, Gosling tilted his wrist down, making his hand flat, while Stone's outstretched hand was at a straight angle.
The new La La Land poster included a blink-and-you'll-miss-it change. After all, Gosling's pose now matches that of his co-star, with his extended hand now facing upward.

And the change was noticed by more than just someone in the crowd. Indeed, fans didn't hesitate to share their thoughts on the new film poster, mourning the death of the "La La Hand."
"oh my god someone tell ryan right now," a user commented on Lionsgate's Instagram, while a second fan wrote, "reverse the La La Hand IMMEDIATELY."
Another joked, "RIP LA LA HAND (2016-2026). You will be missed (but Ryan will be so happy)."
As for Gosling's thoughts on the poster makeover? According to Lionsgate's head of worldwide marketing Justin Manfredi, the Oscar nominee saw the revamped poster ahead of time and "approved it."
After all, Gosling has made it known that he was not a fan of his pose on the initial poster and regrets changing the choreography.
When asked by The Wall Street Journal in May 2024 if there's a role he'd like to redo, he named La La Land.
"There's a moment that haunts me where we’re dancing, Emma and I," Gosling explained, "and I didn’t know this would become the poster for the movie, but I thought we were supposed to have our hands up and I thought it’d be cool to put my hand [flat]."
He admitted he later realized that it would have "been cooler" to do what he was told, adding that his pose "killed the energy that way. I call it La La Hand."
