CHICAGO, Ill. – After a wet start to the month, Chicago, Illinois, has had a bit of a dry spell, leaving people wondering how much rain could fall by the end of July.

So far this month, Chicago has received just over 3.5 inches of rain, according to the National Weather Service.

Despite this, the city is above the annual average precipitation, with 24.1 inches so far, compared to the usual average of 21.1 inches.

Scattered showers are expected this evening as precipitation chances increase overnight.

With more wet weather on the way, prediction markets at Kalshi are analyzing the expected rainfall totals for Chicago by the end of the month.

Experts at Kalshi are predicting a 99% chance that precipitation totals will exceed 3 inches, along with a 51% chance of surpassing 4 inches by the end of July.
