"Ruled by Mars, Aries gravitates toward flavors that make a statement," Szymczak said. She added that Aries is the "fieriest of the fire signs", explaining that this sign is known for bringing the heat (and they secretly kind of love being the heat). 

Even though it may seem like "adding fuel to the fire", by pairing a spicy cake with Aries, the sign loves a little extra heat and spice to get them going. That's why she compares the sign to a Mexican chocolate cake with a hint of chili, because "Aries is rarely interested in playing it safe."

This sign loves comfortable, nostalgic flavors, but they want it to be the most luxurious, bougie version of that classic. My dad is a Taurus, and I can certainly see this ringing true for him. Szymczak said they could also be a classic strawberry shortcake because this Venus-ruled sign values quality over all else.

"They love luxurious ingredients, buttery textures, and timeless desserts made exceptionally well," she said. "Comfort and indulgence always win."

Gemini is known as being the most playful sign with a highly active inner child. What excites a Gemini is creativity and curiosity, so a visually interesting cake would be the most them. "A cake with colorful surprises or multiple flavors perfectly reflects their lively, ever-changing personality," Szymczak explained. Beyond a confetti cake, she also mentioned a marble cake as a natural pick.

A carrot cake with cream cheese frosting or a coconut layer cake is Szymczak's answer for Cancer, as this sign connects food with memory, family, and tradition. Cancers love flavors that are representative of home to them, and they want their food to connect to family and tradition. Because it is so dependent on what is nostalgic and comforting for each individual, this cake flavor can largely fluctuate based on what they grew up having at birthdays, holidays, and family gatherings.

Leo is ruled by the Sun, and it is known for being all things extra. That is why Szymczak says this zodiac's cake needs to be topped with edible glitter to visually capture this sign's "extraness." Every day is a birthday and a celebration for this sign. While some people may say Leos are dramatic, they really just bring the party. 

"Their ideal cake is beautiful, celebratory, and impossible to ignore," she said. "Presentation is just as important as flavor for Leos." Other than this cake choice, Szymczak also said Leo could be captured with an elegant red velvet cake.

The overall word she used to describe a Virgo is pragmatic. They tend to be a little more mindful of the ingredients in a cake and prefer things to be wholesome. She said they want everything to be refined and beautifully made. An almond cake would also match this sign's taste.

"Rather than an overly sweet dessert, they appreciate healthful ingredients, balanced flavors, and excellent craftsmanship," she said.

A Libra is similar to a Taurus, Szymczak explained, but Libra is a little more attached to the presentation of the dessert. Because Libra is ruled by Venus, it seeks beauty, romance, and elegance - and wants the taste to represent the finer things. All air signs enjoy novelty, creativity, and desserts that spark conversation.

Scorpios are known as the "deepest water sign" because they are bold and direct. They know who they are and what they like, on a very deep level. That means Scorpios enjoy cakes with depth and intensity. A rich, dark chocolate cake with a deep espresso flavor matches their mysterious, passionate nature - and so would a Black Forest cake.

Capricorns are known as the hardest-working sign, but are also super-grounded because they are an earth sign. Szymczak explained that Capricorns love a dessert that appears simple, but is actually hard to execute. Which is why she also said Capricorn could be a flourless chocolate torte.

People of this sign appreciate tradition and mastery, and she explained that "they would rather have one impeccably executed classic than the latest dessert trend." Instead of an extravagant dessert, they want a quality one.

Aquarius tends to be captivated by the most interesting item on the menu. "Aquarius is naturally drawn to innovative flavor combinations and desserts that feel modern, creative, and a little unconventional," she said.

I asked Associate Editor Alex Foster, an Aquarius herself, if this trait seemed to match her, and she agreed. She added that her grandmother recently called her out for always ordering the "least boring" thing on the menu. Beyond a matcha yuzu cake, Szymczak addd that an ube cake would match this air sign.

Szymczak said Pisces would be a lavender honey cake, rose pistachio cake, or blackberry Earl Grey cake. This sign is ruled by Neptune and therefore attracted to dreamy and fantastical feelings. "Floral notes, delicate ingredients, and ethereal combinations appeal to Pisces' imaginative nature," she explained. 

There is also a touch of romance to this sign; Pisces view things with rose-colored glasses. Like all the other water signs, Pisces connects food with emotion, memory, and sensory experiences.
