The start of preseason camp is quickly approaching as Clemson football gets ready to begin preparations for what the program hopes will be a much stronger 2026 season.
According to a school spokesperson, the Tigers will hold their first preseason practice on Aug. 6, giving Dabo Swinney and his staff one month to prepare for one of the toughest opening games in college football.
There is plenty of motivation entering camp after Clemson struggled to a 7-6 record in 2025. The Tigers failed to reach both the ACC Championship Game and the College Football Playoff, marking the second-lowest win total of Swinney’s 17 full seasons as head coach. The disappointing campaign led to one of the busiest offseasons Clemson has had in years.
Swinney made changes to his coaching staff, leaned on the transfer portal more than ever before and also managed to keep several of the program’s top players from leaving. Those moves have created optimism that Clemson can quickly return to competing for conference and national titles.
Once practice begins, every workout will be geared toward the season opener against LSU. Clemson will travel to Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, for a nationally televised matchup on Sept. 5. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET, with ABC carrying the game.
The Tigers will have roughly four weeks of preseason work before making the trip to face one of the nation’s top SEC programs in a game that could shape the rest of their 2026 season.
