Disney is officially spicing things up with the opening of The Carnaby, a brand-new British-themed restaurant overseen by celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay.
As per People magazine, the new restaurant, which opened on July 13, brings the signature flavors of the United Kingdom to the lax atmosphere of Disneyland, paving the way to a unique dining experience unlike any other on the resort property.
“This is quintessential cool Britannia, like no other,” Ramsay said of the restaurant's opening. “Some classics on that menu, but for me, it’s about the family environment.”
“Downtown Disney, for me, has always been a dream," the 59-year-old TV chef continued. "We’ve worked with Disney for many years. This place is unique and the history here is incredible.”
True to Ramsay's word, The Carnaby includes a healthy number of iconic British staples on its official menu, including beef Wellington, bangers & mash, chickpea tikka marsala, English cut steak and sticky toffee pudding, among many others.
“We’re lucky," Ramsay explained of the menu. "We’ve got six amazing kids, and so they’re, like, our little tryouts, because every time we develop a new dish it always goes to the kids first. And when you see them devouring it in seconds, we know it’s going to be a hit at The Carnaby.”
The Swinging '60s-inspired gastropub was initially announced in October of last year, with its location based in the Downtown Disney District of Anaheim, California's Disneyland Resort.
“All eyes were on London in the 1960s, a full-on fantastic technicolor scene of people going out and having fun,” Ramsay teased at the time.
“We are bringing those cool vibes to Gordon Ramsay at The Carnaby," the Hell's Kitchen chef continued. "Stunning interiors, incredible food and great music, whether it’s date night or dinner with friends or family, The Carnaby is going to bring the very best of cool Britannia to Downtown Disney District.”
