With today’s launch of Samsung’s new foldable devices, Google is also launching a handful of new AI features. These are debuting first on Samsung’s new devices, starting today.
Firstly is the ability to automate tasks with Gemini Intelligence. This is going to be available first on the Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8, and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. Gemini is going to be able to handle tasks like ordering food or buying event tickets. Task automation first launched back in February and has since expanded to over 40+ apps.
Gemini Notebook is also coming pre-installed on Samsung’s latest foldables. This was rebranded from NotebookLM earlier this month. But it’ll allow you to multitask, manage projects, and see an expansive view of your work.
Faster switching, Gemini on Watch and Glasses
Also being announced today is a more streamlined switching experience. So you can switch over to Android from iOS easier than ever before. This is thanks to how transfer data is handled in Android 17. Now you’re able to transfer up to 20 different data types from an iPhone wirelessly or with a cable. If you’ve been wanting to switch to Android, but the fact that a lot of your data couldn’t be switched over has kept you from doing so, now might be the time to do it.
Of course, we can’t forget about wearables. With the Galaxy Watch 9, you can simply raise your wrist to easily activate Gemini without using a wake word. Google also announced that Gemini is coming to Intelligent Eyewear starting this Fall, and Google gave us a preview of this new hardware this week in London. Gemini will be the AI experience on Samsung’s new smart glasses, along with a little bit of help from Bixby. This Fall, Samsung will launch two styles in partnership with Warby Parker and Gentle Monster.
