Ingredients

Crust

  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled

Filling

  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 3 ¾ cups (16 ounces) powdered sugar, plus more for dusting

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the yellow cake mix, egg, and melted butter. Stir until a thick dough forms.
  3. Press the mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan to form the crust. Set aside.
  4. In another large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with an electric mixer on medium speed until smooth.
  5. Add the eggs and vanilla extract and mix until combined.
  6. Pour in the melted butter and add the salt. Mix until smooth.
  7. Gradually add the powdered sugar and mix until fully incorporated. The filling will be thick and creamy.
  8. Pour the filling over the crust and gently spread into an even layer.
  9. Bake for 40-45 minutes. The edges should be set and lightly golden, while the center remains slightly soft. Do not overbake.
  10. Let the cake cool completely in the pan for at least 3 hours before slicing. Dust with additional powdered sugar before serving.

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • In a large bowl, mix cake mix, egg, and melted butter until combined. Press evenly into the bottom of the pan to form the crust.
  • In another bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth. Add eggs and vanilla and mix until combined.
  • Mix in melted butter and salt. Gradually add powdered sugar and mix until smooth.
  • Pour filling over crust and spread evenly.
  • Bake 40-45 minutes until edges are set and center is slightly soft. Do not overbake.
