Kaylee Hottle, star of "Godzilla vs. Kong" and "Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire," died Tuesday at age 18, her father and school reported.

July 21 (UPI) -- Actor Kaylee Hottle died in an automobile accident, her father, Joshua, announced in a Facebook video Tuesday and her school, Texas School for the Deaf, announced on social media. She was 18.

Joshua conducted his video in American Sign Language, which he and Kaylee spoke. Kaylee appeared in Godzilla vs. Kong and its sequel Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire as Jia, a deaf child who bonds with Kong.

Her only other credit was an episode of Magnum, P.I. She was going into her senior year at TSD.

The accident occurred in Frederick County, Md. The Frederick County Sheriff's Office said in a statement that deputies responded to the accident scene on Windsor Road at 2:52 a.m.

Kaylee was one of two passengers in a 1995 Honda Accord driven by a 19-year-old man. Authorities said the vehicle drove off the right side of the two-lane road and struck a culvert. Excessive speed is believed to be a contributing factor in the crash, the Frederick County Sheriff's Office said.

The driver was transported to a local hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening, while a second passenger declined medical treatment at the scene.

Neither the second passenger nor driver were identified.

The trades publications Variety and Deadline confirmed the translation of Joshua's video.

Actor Millie Bobby Brown expressed her disbelief about Kaylee's death in a Instagram story on Tuesday.

"I am so devastated to hear this," she wrote. "You will be deeply missed, Kaylee."
