AA video showing a man directing racist and derogatory remarks at two Black women at a California restaurant has circulated widely on social media. According to the Atlanta Black Star, the video was originally posted by @bribribandicas24 on TikTok.
She posted part one on June 24 and part two on June 29. In the caption of part 1, she explained that she and her friend “were the target of racist and misogynistic hate from a man having a public tantrum,” at Kalaveras Redondo Beach.
She also gave a shoutout to a woman “who stood up without hesitation,” and emphasized that “In moments like this, character reveals itself on all sides.”
White Man Calls Black Woman “Ignorant” During Heated Restaurant Confrontation
In part one of the video, the man could be seen seated opposite the Black women in the outdoor dining area of the Kalaveras restaurant in Redondo Beach, California, directing fatphobic and misogynist remarks at them.
“You’re the one acting f***ing entitled,” he said, adding, “Dumb fat b**ch. You think you’re f***ing above everybody?” while recording the whole altercation with his phone. You think you’re going to catch me saying something racist? I’m not. You’re the one being an ignorant b**ch.”
As he continued speaking, another woman apparently seated in the same area called him out, stating, “You’re being rude to the whole goddam restaurant right now.”
When a waitress approached the man’s table, the woman recording the video asked her why she wasn’t calling the manager. The man said the waitress had “saw [sic] them being rude to me.”
At the same time, one of the two Black women got up from her seat and seemingly went inside the restaurant to call the manager and report the incident.
“B**ch, hit the gym,” the man continued, further telling them to “go back to where you’re from.” When the woman recording asked him, “How would you know?” about where they were from, he replied, “I can tell by your accent. You’re not from around here.”
The man added that he was from the South Bay, prompting the bystander to remark that she thought he was from Tennessee from his accent.
“Why are you acting like a man anyway? I wasn’t even talking to you. Mind your own business. Mind your own business. I don’t care,” he added.
In response, the bystander stated, “I don’t give a f—. You’re going to announce it to the whole f—— world; someone’s going to respond to you. What the f—?”
The man claimed he had been “minding my own business” when the Black woman recording the video “comes over here telling me to not let the waitress serve me. Because they’re more important, they need to get their f***ing check before I order. So God forbid I stand up for myself.”
“Go back to where the f— you’re from,” he reiterated, adding, “I can tell by the way you’re talking. I can tell. You’re the one that started the conversation with me. I wasn’t even trying to talk to you.”
The second part showed the restaurant’s manager arriving at his table. The man could be heard telling him that he was minding his own business when the woman made him “mad.”
The manager, in response, gave the man a table inside the restaurant, which the Black woman condemned, and questioned, “How is he even conducting the business? I don’t even want to eat here no more, because you’re supposed to refuse service to someone who is very irate. He’s been irate.”
The man then pointed at the bystander while speaking to the manager and continued picking at her, something the women also pointed out.
“Do you see the picking still, sir? He’s still picking. You’re supposed to refuse the service. Why do you want to be represented like this? He’s still picking,” one of the Black women said.
