ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Atlanta firefighters have shut down 6th Street NW between Juniper and Peachtree streets after a crew ruptured a natural gas line.

Businesses in that block were evacuated as a precaution. No injuries have been reported.

On Tuesday afternoon, a third-party company “performing work unrelated to Atlanta Gas Light” damaged a gas line on the 100 block of 6th Street, said a spokesperson for Southern Company Gas, which owns Atlanta Gas Light.

Atlanta Gas Light crews responded to the scene quickly and have safely made repairs, the spokesperson said.
