"It's part of a phased plan to elevate the best experience."

Galleria Dallas is getting a major makeover, and new details reveal what shoppers can expect.

At the forefront is an upgrade of the North Plaza where a new "grand customer entrance" will soon welcome shoppers-a project estimated to cost $4.2 million, according to an April filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

"It's part of a phased plan to elevate the best experience," Galleria Dallas General Manager Angie Freed told Chron on Wednesday. "Right now the space is a path to get into the building…it really could be much more interesting and a place that people sit and enjoy. Right now…it's just passive."

Freed said the Galleria Dallas' South Plaza underwent a series of renovations about three years ago, and the success of those results guided these newly announced upgrades.

"One of the things that our guests told us…was that we didn't have enough outdoor green space, so we added some green space to the South Plaza, and we do programming, and…people are always out there enjoying it," Freed said. "So, the North Plaza will respond to that."

The grand entrance, located between the Grand Lux Café and The Westin Galleria Dallas,  will be "created with intuitive, intentional design," according to a recent news release.

"Architect Omniplan has completely reimagined the plaza in front of Grand Lux Café with updated landscaping, seating, fresh pavers and an enhanced arrival experience for that end of the shopping center," the release reads. "Bud Creative has designed landscaping that will make the space feel both welcoming and intimate."

The renovations will also feature an upgraded valet stand designed to make entering Galleria Dallas more efficient.

"We should be under construction by late August and then finished in January of 2027," Freed said, adding that construction will be phased. "We have never had an entry directly into the shopping center on the northwest side of our building, so (shoppers) will soon be able to enjoy a new entry."

Upgrades are also already underway in the mall's Center Court, which will feature new flooring, lighting and seating areas.

"The teal glass is being exchanged for an off-white finish to brighten and modernize the space," according to the release.

Freed did not disclose the Center Court project cost. Both projects follow what the Galleria Dallas describes as "the continuous evolution" of the mall.

In 2025, the restrooms on Level 3 North and at the Galleria Dallas Ice Skating Rink were completed, and another entry corridor was added between The Westin Galleria Dallas and Bachendorf's Jewelers.

"New party rooms, perfect for birthday parties, community events and business meetings, also were finished and opened on Rink Level," the release reads.
