The Spanish soccer superstar looked surprisingly comfortable riding waves at Brazil's revolutionary Wavegarden lagoon.

Following Spain's World Cup victory over Argentina, on Sunday, three-time surfing world champion Gabriel Medina took to social media to celebrate his friend and global sports icon, Lamine Yamal.

Resharing a delightful, resurfaced video clip, Medina gave sports fans a look back at a lighter, cross-sport moment between two of the planet's most famous athletes.

The footage was originally filmed a year ago when Yamal was still just a 17-year-old rising soccer prodigy. Taking a break during a trip to São Paulo, Brazil, Yamal paid a visit to Beyond the Club, the revolutionary, state-of-the-art Wavegarden surf lagoon where Medina serves as a partner and investor. Watch below.

In the clip, Medina personally steps into the role of surf instructor, guiding the teenage phenom and gently pushing him into rolling beginner waves on the lagoon’s soft interior break. True to his elite athletic nature, Yamal makes the difficult transition from grass turf to moving water look entirely effortless.

While standing up on a surfboard can be a notoriously frustrating hurdle for most beginners, Yamal easily pops to his feet, maintaining fluid balance as the gentle mechanical wave carries him down the line.

What really captured the moment, however, was Yamal's undeniable flair once on the wave face. The young star couldn't help but celebrate his maiden ride with his signature pitch-side charisma. Mid-wave, Yamal began throwing energetic claims, dancing on the deck of his soft-top surfboard, and pumping his arms with pure joy—looking exactly as if he had just scored a dramatic, game-winning goal in front of 80,000 fans.

Medina's repost quickly racked up heaps of views, drawing enthusiastic praise from both soccer diehards and the global surfing community.

While Yamal's primary focus remains dominating international pitch fields, his natural balance and joy on a surfboard prove that world-class athletic talent translates anywhere—even into the artificial waves of Brazil.

Now the question remains...
