For Fortune Feimster, starring in The Hawk alongside Will Ferrell was a blast.
In Netflix’s new golf comedy, Feimster, 46, stars as Sam, the caddy for Ferrell’s former top golfer, Lonnie Hawkins. When Lonnie asks Sam to join Team Hawk, the two develop an unlikely bond that blossoms into a ride-or-die friendship. From making Lonnie’s epic comeback to getting caught up in hilarious shenanigans, Sam and Lonnie’s friendship is filled with ridiculous moments.
One that stands out to Feimster is a hilarious scene at Buffalo Wild Wings.
“We purposely didn’t eat lunch because we wanted to throw down on the wings,” she tells PEOPLE. “We had a lot of background with us that day, and so we were just nailing these wings. We had to get the crowd going, and he kept giving a speech. We were genuinely getting the crowd worked up and it got more and more ridiculous as we went.”
“There’s no shortage of laughing with these folks around and this kind of content that you’re filming,” Feimster added.
Feimster and Ferrell previously worked together on You’re Cordially Invited. In the wedding comedy, Ferrell, 50, stars as Jim Caldwell, an overprotective father who plans his daughter’s dream wedding, and Feimster as Captain Barry, the ferry boat driver who transports the guests to the wedding.
When Feimster joined the cast of the Prime Video movie, she was warned the part would be “really small.” But, for her, getting the chance to work alongside Ferrell was enough.
“I’m like, ‘I don’t care. It’s Will Ferrell. It doesn’t matter to me,’” Feimster says. “I’ve wanted to work with him my whole life. He was my guy when I was in high school.”
Now, getting to work with Ferrell more closely, as well as acting alongside Molly Shannon — who stars as Lonnie’s fiery ex-wife Stacy — is “a dream come true.”

The Hawk follows Lonnie as he “struggles on the back nine of his career to recapture his magic,” according to a logline.
“His body says retire, but his heart says he’s not done yet,” the description continues. “His ex-wife and his son Lance, golf’s new golden boy, know he’s through. But with one more major to win to complete golf’s Grand Slam, Lonnie refuses to believe he’s anything other than one stroke away from the greatest comeback in golf history.”
The series also stars Jimmy Tatro, Luke Wilson, Chris Parnell, Katelyn Tarver and David Hornsby. Ferrell also serves as executive producer.
For Ferrell and Shannon, 61, The Hawk is a reunion as well. The two first starred together on Saturday Night Live in 1995 and went on to appear together in projects including 1998’s A Night at the Roxbury, 1999’s Superstar and 2006’s Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby.
“When Will asked me, ‘Molly, can you play my wife on this show?’ I was like, ‘Yes. I don’t need to see anything. I’m in.’ You know what I mean?” Shannon says. “Of course it’s a hell yes.”
Ferrell says he and Shannon still have the same sense of humor. “I think we both laugh at certain behavior patterns that we see in each other,” Ferrell says. “Like, ‘Oh, I know what you’re thinking.’ Or Molly will say, ‘You didn’t like that person, did you?’ But I think we still have the same funny. The weird things make us both laugh.”
The Hawk is now streaming on Netflix.
