A few years ago, Vince McMahon resigned from all of his positions in WWE after former employee Janel Grant filed a sexual trafficking lawsuit against him. Last month, in Jun. 2026, an update emerged stating that Grant and her team were ready to take the lawsuit into private arbitration. Grant, McMahon, and WWE jointly submitted a new motion requesting the court to reschedule a hearing set for Jun. 16, 2026.
Now, after a month-long wait, another major update has emerged on the ongoing sexual trafficking lawsuit. As a result of last month’s motion, the lawsuit will now be dismissed within the next five business days. However, Grant’s claims and defenses will now instead be pursued in the private arbitration process.
“Pursuant to the Court’s July 13, 2026 order, ECF No. 151, Plaintiff Janel Grant, Defendant World Wrestling Entertainment, LLC, and Defendant Vincent K. McMahon (together, the “Parties”) jointly report that the Parties have executed an agreement to arbitrate their dispute. Pursuant to that agreement, within five business days, Plaintiff shall execute and cause to be filed a Stipulation of Voluntary Dismissal with Prejudice causing the action to be dismissed in its entirety, as to both remaining defendants, but without prejudice to the Parties’ rights to pursue their claims and defenses in arbitration,” Grant’s attorney Ann Callis submitted in the joint status report. Filed in Jan. 2024, the lawsuit against McMahon and WWE will now come to a close. Citing a 2022 non-disclosure agreement clause signed with McMahon, McMahon’s side pushed for arbitration, with Grant’s side asserting it was signed under duress. It is currently unknown what made the Grant side change its stance.
