Former Spartan signs two-way deal with New York Islanders

A former Spartans forward has signed a two-way deal with the New York Islanders.

Former Michigan State hockey forward Joey Larson will continue his professional career with the New York Islanders organization on a two-year, two-way deal. The Islanders announced the contract of Larson on Wednesday.

Larson just wrapped up his first season with the Bridgeport Islanders of the American Hockey League (AHL). He recorded 17 goals and 11 assists for 28 points across 63 games. He ranked third on the Islanders in goals.

Prior to his professional career, Larson played two seasons with the Spartans from 2023-2025. He led the Spartans in goals with 16 during the 2023-24 season, and was part of back-to-back Big Ten champs during his two seasons.
