Former Duke quarterback among Heisman Trophy favorites

Last season at Duke, quarterback Darian Mensah threw for nearly 4,000 yards, accounting for 34 touchdowns in the air and one on the ground. As a result, it's no surprise that the new Miami Hurricane is among the favorites to win the Heisman Trophy next season.

According to BETMGM, Mensah is tied with Julian Sayin for the fourth-best odds (+1100) to lift the prestigious award. Trinidad Chambliss of Ole Miss is just ahead at third place, while both CJ Carr (Notre Dame) and Archie Manning (Texas) are tied with the best odds at +750. As expected, no Duke players were listed among the favorites.

Mensah made headlines at ACC media days last week when he discussed his decision to leave Duke after one season, citing friction within the locker room over how much the Blue Devils had paid him to transfer from Tulane prior to last year.

The Blue Devils will face Mensah and the Hurricanes on November 14.
