Farmville church demolished after structural collapse

Church demolished after structural collapse ruptured gas lines and caused evacuations.

A Farmville church’s initial demolition is complete after a structural collapse ruptured gas lines Tuesday night, according to Farmville Mayor Alex Joyner, WITN Greenville reports.

It happened just after 6:00 p.m. at the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church at the corner of South Walnut Street and Wallace Street.

The church was heavily damaged. No one was inside, and there are no injuries.

Around two dozen residents from a two-block area were evacuated due to concerns the front of the building could fall and bring down power lines.
