In December 2025, a 6-year-old girl died while riding a go-kart at a Florida adventure park. Her family has now filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the park. Emma Riddle, 6, crashed her go-kart into a wall at Urban Air Trampoline and Adventure Park in Port St. Lucie.
Her family has alleged that park employees ignored several safety protocols and allowed the child to ride the go-kart without a seatbelt, which they allege led to her death. In the lawsuit, the family demanded a jury trial and sought at least $50,000 in damages from the park.
Emma Riddle’s Family Files Wrongful Death Lawsuit Against Adventure Park
The family is being represented by Morgan & Morgan, which filed the lawsuit in Broward County on July 20, 2026. According to the lawsuit, Riddle went to Urban Air Trampoline and Adventure Park at 9020 S. U.S. Highway 1 with her family on Dec. 6, 2025, to celebrate her older sister’s birthday.
After the family went to the go-kart track, an employee told them the operator had already gone home. However, the employee still let them in and allowed them to ride the karts. Riddle was driving the kart, while her mother was in the passenger seat. Her mother said she attempted to fasten the seatbelts, but they did not extend.
Shortly after, their kart hit a barrier and crashed into a wall, causing Riddle to slam into the steering wheel. An employee called 911 around 8:51 p.m., and Riddle was rushed to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce. She died a day later from blunt force injuries.
Family Alleges the Park Ignored Safety Protocol
In the lawsuit, the Riddle family’s attorneys said the go-kart section of the park did not have adequate safety instructions. According to them, the go-kart’s manual said it should only be driven by people who are at least 18 years old and at least 5 feet tall. However, not only was Riddle just 6 years old, but she was also about a foot shorter than the minimum height requirement.
Additionally, the ride operator was supposed to operate the karts at 3 mph during the first minute. But according to the lawsuit, the employee let the family drive at 10 mph from the start, which contributed to the crash.
“Our lawsuit alleges that Urban Air’s decisions, in contrast to state laws, manufacturer recommendations, and their own internal policies, led to the dangerous conditions that cost Emma her life. Emma deserved better, and her family deserves accountability and assurances that Urban Air will never put another child at risk in this way again,” Morgan & Morgan attorney Thomas Hasty said in a statement.
This is not the first time Urban Air has faced trouble in connection with the incident. Earlier this year, the park paid a $300,000 settlement to the Florida Department of Agriculture after an investigation. Meanwhile, Riddle’s family continues to remember her as a child “full of life, love, and light.”
“She was adored by all who knew her and loved God with all her heart. Her faith was strong, her spirit radiant, and her kindness unmatched. Though her time with us was far too short, Emma filled every moment with laughter, compassion, and warmth. She will forever remain a precious daughter, sister, friend, and a cherished gift from God,” the family wrote in her obituary.
