FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — A Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) teacher is facing charges for simple assault after “unlawful and inappropriate contact” with a student, police said.
The Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) said that administrators at Cooper Middle School were notified about concerns over a teacher’s inappropriate behavior on June 4. School officials notified detectives with FCPD’s Child Abuse Squad, and they started the investigation.
FCPD said that detectives learned that 35-year-old Eliseo Perez of King George had “engaged in unlawful and inappropriate contact with a student on two occasions in May of 2026.” Perez is a special education teacher at the school and has been a teacher with FCPS since 2025.
Perez turned himself in on July 22, when he was charged and held on a $4,000 bond.
FCPD said that the school district placed Perez on administrative leave once the school learned about the allegations. Perez is now suspended without pay.
