Tottenham Hotspur avoided relegation from the Premier League and are now building towards what they hope will be a brighter future under Roberto De Zerbi.
Big changes have been brewing for Tottenham, with their confirmation of top-flight status allowing them to unlock some more ambitious plans.
Here, we’re keeping track of every signing Spurs make this summer and every player leaving.
Tottenham signings
Sandro Tonali
- From: Newcastle
- Fee: £100m
- Position: Midfielder
- Age: 26
Tottenham’s new record signing is Tonali, who they’ve paid Newcastle a reported £100m sum for.
The former AC Milan midfielder spent the past three seasons with Newcastle, making 110 appearances.
According to reports, the initial fee for Tonali’s transfer is £92.5m, but it could rise to £100m with add-ons.
“I’m very happy to be here,” he said. “People said about there being four or five clubs – there was only one.
“I spoke to the head coach for close to two hours about the club, the fans, the stadium and our football.
“It was like magic because I knew immediately that I had to sign for Tottenham.”
Mateus Fernandes
- From: West Ham
- Fee: £85m
- Position: Midfielder
- Age: 21
Tottenham initially smashed their transfer record to sign Fernandes after his relegation from the Premier League with West Ham, although the fee was soon eclipsed by the addition of another midfielder in the shape of Tonali.
The fee for Fernandes is reportedly £85m, which is £20m greater than their previous record signing (Dominic Solanke).
Fernandes, who will wear the number 18 shirt for Spurs, has been billed as “a player with outstanding technical ability, intelligence and maturity” by sporting director Johan Lange, while De Zerbi has highlighted how he “is comfortable under pressure, can progress the ball, works hard for the team and has the courage to make things happen in difficult moments.”
With just one cap for Portugal to his name, Fernandes is one for the future, but was busy for West Ham in his sole season there and the price Spurs have paid for him suggests he will have a big role in De Zerbi’s system too.
Martin Dubravka
- From: Burnley

- Position: Goalkeeper
- Age: 37
With Guglielmo Vicario expected to leave and Antonin Kinsky getting a nod of faith, Spurs have stocked up in the goalkeeping department with the addition of Dubravka.
The experienced former Newcastle keeper will join as a free agent after his release by Burnley.
It won’t be his first time occupying a backup role at a big club after previously spending six months at Manchester United.
Dubravka said: “It’s an exciting time for me, a new journey and new experience for me and my family. I’m looking forward to it.
“Everything moved pretty quickly and I’m really happy to be here. I’ve loved watching Roberto’s teams over the years and know all about his style, vision and the fantastic fans here.
“Tottenham Hotspur is one of the biggest clubs in the Premier League and I can’t wait to meet everyone and get started.”
Jan-Paul van Hecke
- From: Brighton
- Fee: £52m
- Position: Centre-back
- Age: 26
Spurs have bolstered their defence with the purchase of Van Hecke from Brighton.
It was a case of third time lucky after two failed bids, with an offer of £52m eventually doing the trick.
“It’s a huge honour to become a Spurs player and when you join such a big club, it’s a dream come true,” Van Hecke said after sealing his reunion with De Zerbi.
“I already have a really strong connection with the Head Coach, who I’m looking forward to working with again. Micky (van de Ven) has also told me some great things about the Club, so I can’t wait to get started.
“I’ve been at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as an opposition player and now I’m looking forward to walking out there in front of our fans wearing the Spurs shirt. That will be a special moment.”
Marcos Senesi
- From: Bournemouth

- Age: 29
Spurs reached an agreement in principle with Senesi while the season was ongoing, merely needing to preserve their Premier League status to subsequently bring him in.
Thus, they have since been able to confirm that the Argentine defender will be joining them when his Bournemouth contract expires.
Senesi has spent the past four seasons in the Premier League with Bournemouth, making 128 appearances across all competitions.
The left-footed centre-back, who will wear the number five shirt, told the club website: “It’s a very special feeling to be a Tottenham Hotspur player.
“From the first moment, the club has shown why they want me and how much they want me to be a part of what they are building. It’s exciting and something I can’t wait to be involved in.
“Every time I step on the pitch, I will do my best to make the fans proud and to take the club back to the place it belongs. I want to win things with Tottenham and will do everything I can to make that happen.”
Andy Robertson
- From: Liverpool
- Fee: Free
- Position: Left-back
- Age: 32
After coming close to signing Robertson in January, Spurs stuck it out and have got their man on a free after his Liverpool contract expired.
De Zerbi said: “Andy is someone I’ve admired for a number of years and he will bring outstanding technical qualities, experience, leadership and mentality to our team.
“He is a proven winner at the highest level over a long period and is someone who can be a big player for us, both on and off the pitch.
“I can’t wait to start working with him and seeing the positive impact he will have on everyone around him.”
Robertson will add some experience to the Spurs squad and provide competition for Destiny Udogie at left-back.
Tottenham exits
Will Lankshear
- To: Middlesbrough
- Fee: £10m
- Position: Striker
- Age: 21
After loan spells with West Brom and Oxford United, Spurs academy graduate Lankshear has left in a permanent move.
Middlesbrough are paying £10m up front for the 21-year-old, but they could double their investment with add-ons.
Spurs are understood to have secured matching rights for any future bids for Lankshear in case they want to buy him back.
Luka Vuskovic
- To: Brighton
- Fee: £46m
- Position: Centre-back
- Age: 19
Spurs have sold Vuskovic before even giving him a competitive debut, despite his impressive form on loan with Hamburg last season.
The Croatian centre-back has become Brighton’s record signing, with the fee potentially rising to £50m with add-ons.
Thus, he can effectively replace Van Hecke at the Amex, even though it wasn’t technically a swap deal.
Radu Dragusin
- To: Fiorentina
- Fee: Loan
- Position: Centre-back
- Age: 24
Dragusin has headed back to a league he knows well by joining Serie A side Fiorentina on loan.
The Romanian defender’s move will become permanent on certain conditions, in which case he won’t be adding to the 48 appearances he made for Spurs.
“The experience at Tottenham helped me grow a great deal, both as a player and a man,” he said. “I carry with me the many tough duels I had with opposition strikers, the quality of the players I faced. It helped me to mature and I hope to bring that experience with me in this new team.”
Alfie Devine

- Position: Midfielder
- Age: 21
After spending last season on loan with Preston, Devine is staying with the Championship side, who have broken their transfer record to sign him.
While the fee is undisclosed, it’s believed to be pushing towards £6m.
Alejo Veliz
- To: Bahia
- Fee: £7.7m
- Position: Striker
- Age: 22
Veliz is going to Brazil with Bahia after spending time on loan in Argentina with his former club Rosario Central.
The striker only ever played 10 times for Spurs, scoring twice. Loan spells in Spain with Sevilla and Espanyol followed before his return to South America.
Yves Bissouma
- To: TBC (Released)
- Fee: Free
- Position: Midfielder
- Age: 29
After four years in north London, Bissouma has been released at the end of his contract.
Bissouma made 111 appearances in his Spurs career, but only 11 of those were in his final season.
What we’re expecting at Tottenham
After reinforcing their defence and midfield, attacking upgrades are a must next for Spurs, with Manchester City winger Savinho remaining a top target.
Eli Junior Kroupi has been linked after his breakout season with Bournemouth, but may prove too expensive.
As for other exits, plenty of players could find themselves at risk of being shown the door.
Djed Spence is one of the bigger names attracting interest from elsewhere, while Lucas Bergvall could seek an exit to gain better gametime.
