Early tallies for the midterm primaries show that Arizona Republicans have put their trust in MAGA-style candidates for the top three spots on the November ballot.
Just minutes after polls closed, Andy Biggs was announced the winner in the GOP primary race for governor over longtime congressman David Schweikert. Biggs will face Democratic incumbent Gov. Katie Hobbs, who quickly released an attack ad on Biggs after his win.
Arizona Senate President Warren Petersen beat his opponent, Rodney Glassman, and will challenge Democratic incumbent Kris Mayes for attorney general.

State lawmaker Alex Kolodin, who tried to overturn the 2020 election results to favor President Donald Trump, won the GOP nod for Arizona's secretary of state and will face Democratic incumbent Adrian Fontes in the Nov. 3 election.
For the most part, the primary races were decided soon after an unexpectedly smooth election day. Voting in Maricopa County, a hotbed for election denialism and backbiting over election responsibilities, went off without any major glitches.
