POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A violation of probation warrant served early Tuesday morning led to the arrest of two Auburndale residents following a brief standoff at the Happy Day Mobile Home Park.
Deputies and K-9 units from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office arrived at 1311 U.S. 92 West around 3:55 a.m. on July 21, 2026, searching for a suspect with an active warrant. When law enforcement knocked on the front door, no one answered, though deputies reported hearing a voice inside state, “The sheriff is outside. Be quiet.”
Looking through a window of the home, deputies saw two people moving frantically through the residence.
After multiple commands from law enforcement, 44-year-old Nichole Lynn Rizzo exited the home. According to officials, Rizzo was belligerent and uncooperative with deputies at the scene.
Shortly after, following warnings regarding the presence of a K-9 unit, 42-year-old Danny Laymon Tunstall exited the home and was taken into custody.
Tunstall was arrested on an active Violation of Probation warrant originating from charges of Criminal Use of Personal Identification and Petit Theft. He was also charged with misdemeanor Resisting an Officer Without Violence.
Rizzo was arrested and charged with misdemeanor Resisting an Officer Without Violence.
Both were transported to the Polk County Sheriff’s Processing Center without further incident.
