Doritos have issued an urgent recall for one of the brand's favourite snacks - as customers are told not to eat it.
PepsiCo has recalled Chilli Heatwave flavoured Doritos because some incorrectly contain Tangy Cheese seasoning which contains milk.
The Food Standards Agency issued a notice that said the product poses 'a possible health risk' due to the undeclared ingredient.
Anyone who purchased one of the 140g size bags has been urged to return it to the store they purchased them from to receive a full refund.
Milk allergies are one of the most common food allergies in children and buyers have been warned to avoid the crisps.
People who are allergic to milk and accidentally eat a pack of the contaminated Chilli Heatwave Doritos are at risk of hives and respiratory issues.
And in certain cases, people could have a severe reaction and go into anaphylactic shock.
The Food Standards Agency said: 'This product contains milk, making it a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents.
'PepsiCo is recalling the product from customers and has been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall.
'The company has also issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.'
The FSA told uncertain shoppers to contact PepsiCo Consumer Care Line on 0800 274777.
This is not the first time Doritos has been forced to withdraw a popular product from sale.
In 2024, the brand discovered undeclared soya in Doritos Tangy Cheese packets which is a potential health risk for people with allergies.
The Food Standards Agency issued an alert after Doritos Tangy Cheese was mispacked with Doritos Chilli Heatwave - which contains soya.
The affected products, Doritos Tangy Cheese 180g is sold only in Tesco. While Poundland stocks Doritos Tangy Cheese 5x30g multipacks.
These were also mispacked and pose a possible risk.
According to the Food Standards Agency: 'Doritos is recalling the above product from customers and has been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall.
'The company has also issued a recall notice to customers. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.'
