On Tuesday, Donald Trump shared a post on Truth Social comparing the loss of U.S. troops in the Iran war with those who died in conflicts as far back as the Korean War. He wrote, “Afghanistan War: 20 years, 2,000 DEAD. Iraq War: 9 years, 4,600 DEAD. Vietnam War: 19 years and 5 months, 58,220...

Vietnam War: 19 years and 5 months, 58,220 DEAD.”

The post continued, “Korean War: 3 years and 1 month, 36,574 DEAD. Venezuela War: 1 day, 0 DEAD. Iran Military Conflict: 4 months, 18 DEAD.”

MTG and Gavin Newsom Condemn Donald Trump’s Post

Soon after Donald Trump’s Truth Social post went viral, social media users and government officials condemned the president for reducing the fallen soldiers to statistics.

People also noted that Trump refused to call the ongoing military conflict with Iran a war, and instead referred to the overnight extraction of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro as a war.

This led former MAGA congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene to condemn Trump’s post. Taking to X, she wrote: “Trump is bragging about killing 18 US soldiers. That’s how I read this stupid post. The ‘peace president’ went to war and is killing and wounding our troops.”

Further, California Gov. Gavin Newsom blasted Trump, writing, “Donald Trump is a disgusting Little Man! Treat our brave American soldiers with some respect.”

Even Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer slammed the president, writing, “Bragging about ‘only’ 18 brave US service members being killed in a reckless and illegal war he started is beneath contempt and a new low even for the likes of Donald Trump.”

Trump Postponed Dignified Transfer to Unspecified Date

Amid criticism surrounding Donald Trump’s Truth Social post, the 80-year-old president is also facing backlash for postponing the dignified transfer of two Americans who were killed in Iran.

According to reports, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt had originally shared a tweet saying Trump would attend the dignified transfer on Tuesday at Dover Air Force Base.

“President Trump will attend the dignified transfer of our fallen heroes tomorrow evening at Dover Air Force Base. The President and the entire White House are praying for their families,” she wrote.

Leavitt’s tweet came in response to Trump’s Truth Social post, which said, “Every time Iran kills an American Soldier they will pay for that killing many times over!”

Meanwhile, in a follow-up tweet, Leavitt announced, “The dignified transfer is no longer taking place tomorrow. The exact day and time are still being finalized.”

This led to a wave of backlash on social media, with people slamming the Trump administration as the “worst presidential administration in the history of this country.”

Some even wrote, “Of course Trump canceled. He thinks us soldiers are ‘suckers’.” Others wondered, “To when? When Trump can fit it in between rounds of golf?”

A third user chimed, “Such disrespect for the families of the fallen. Change the date depending on whether Donnie’s in the mood or not.”
