President Donald Trump revealed his phone conversation with the new U.K. Prime Minister on Monday.
"I had a very good conversation with the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Andy Burnham," Trump wrote on Truth Social.
"We discussed many subjects, including the outstanding relationship we have had with the UK. We will be meeting in the not too distant future for topics of mutual interest. The Prime Minister has got a big job ahead of him, but he will be able to do it and, of course, the U.S.A. will be there to help!"
"We discussed North Sea Oil, Trade, the Military Alliance, Demining of the Hormuz Strait, and many other topics. The call was interesting, and went very well. I wished Prime Minister Burnham, GOOD LUCK AND GODSPEED! President DONALD J. TRUMP."

The U.K.'s new prime minister was selected after Keir Starmer announced his resignation, bringing to an end a tenure of just two years in office. Starmer's popularity was dwindling at the time of his resignation, and his relationship with the U.S. leader had also hit a rough patch.
On Monday, 56-year-old Burnham became the seventh U.K. prime minister in 10 years. His call with Trump took place on his first day in the role, and insiders revealed that Burnham extended an invitation for Trump to visit his native Manchester.
However, since he was revealed as the U.K.'s pick for prime minister, old comments Burnham made about Trump have resurfaced. In 2021, Burnham said that any politician who gave the president "the time of day" should be ashamed.
Concerns have already been raised about the two world leaders' ability to work closely and effectively, despite their opposing political views. As a member of both Labor and the Co-operative Party, Burnham identifies as a socialist and is considered a member of the "soft left."
However, Trump's Monday evening post offers some hope of Trump's willingness to build a strong relationship with Burnham. Trump surprised many last year when he took a shine to New York City's democratic socialist Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
He admitted during their first meeting that they "agree on a lot more than I would have thought."
Toward the end of his time as prime minister, Starmer's relationship with Trump was becoming fragile, marked by major disagreements and exacerbated by Trump's habit of bashing his ally on social media.
In a Truth Social post last month, Trump said Starmer had “failed badly” on the key issues of immigration and energy, but added, “I wish him well!”
According to sources, the president has indicated he plans to accept the new prime minister's offer.
