People are ticked off at TikTok Shop.
Both Amazon and the social media platform have been accused of selling jewelry that contains unhealthy levels of cadmium. The investigation by The Sunday Times found that a charm bracelet sold on TikTok Shop reportedly contained nearly 3,300 times the UK limit.

Cadmium is a silvery-white toxic metal, often found in batteries, tobacco smoke and sometimes jewelry. It has been linked to a myriad of health issues affecting the liver, kidneys and lungs. Long-term exposure to high levels of cadmium has also been associated with an increased risk of lung cancer. According to the National Cancer Institute, avoiding tobacco smoke, properly disposing of nickel–cadmium batteries and taking other precautions is the best way to minimize exposure.
One way some people remove potential toxins from their system is heavy metal detox supplements.
These products are packed with different herbs and minerals meant to help the body flush out toxic metals such as lead, mercury — and even cadmium. On Amazon, a container of detox capsules can be purchased for as little as $25.
One trending detox product, the Etta Vita Zeolite Cleanse Megaformula, has racked up thousands of purchases in the past month alone.
Users claim it’s “gentle but effective,” and many report improved digestion, clearer skin and a boost in energy.
Liver Cleanse Detox & RepairThe Etta Vita formula contains a blend of ingredients including cilantro, chlorella, milk thistle, shilajit
and zeolites — which are a group of microporous, crystal-like minerals known for their ability to bind to certain molecules, including heavy metals.
While there is limited scientific evidence that over-the-counter detox supplements can remove heavy metals from the body, many reviewers say they’ve noticed clear benefits after taking the formula.
“After a week of use, I’ve noticed improved digestion, clearer skin, and a big boost in energy,” one user raved. “I love that it’s a natural formula that helps the body gently eliminate heavy metals and toxins without harsh side effects. I feel more balanced, lighter and energized every day.”
The formula is non-GMO, manufactured in a GMP-certified facility, and third-party tested for quality. As with any dietary supplement, it’s a good idea to consult your physician before use, especially if you have any underlying health conditions.
