The contract was awarded by NTPC Renewable Energy after Delectrik Systems and Bondada Engineering won a joint tender.

Delectrik Systems has been selected to deploy a 100MW-hour (MWh) vanadium redox flow battery at the Khavda Solar Park in the Indian state of Gujarat.

The contract was awarded by NTPC Renewable Energy, a subsidiary of NTPC, following a joint tender win by Delectrik Systems and Bondada Engineering.

NTPC is said to be the largest integrated power utility in India, with an installed capacity of more than 90GW and a target to reach 149GW by 2032, including 60GW from renewable sources.

The new battery system will be installed in 2027.

Delectrik will provide its non-containerised flow battery technology designed for large commercial, industrial and utility applications.

The Khavda Solar Park is expected to become the world’s largest renewable energy park, with an anticipated generation capacity of 30GW by 2029.

Delectrik previously delivered a 3MWh variant of its flow battery at NTPC’s Greater Noida site in 2025.

The company describes long-duration energy storage systems such as flow batteries as critical for integrating renewable energy into the power grid.

Delectrik founder and CEO Vishal Mittal said: “The first utility-scale Flow Battery project is a milestone not just for the company but the country as a whole. This will be the first non-lithium utility-scale BESS [battery energy storage system] project to be deployed in India.

“[It will be the] first project of this scale to be 100% designed, engineered and manufactured in India. Delectrik is targeting an order book of at least a GWh [GW-hour] Flow Battery capacity in the next 12 months across India, Australia, ASEAN, Africa and a few other geographies.

“The company has set up two wholly owned subsidiaries, Delectrik Resources Pvt Ltd (DRPL) and Delectrik Esaas Pvt Ltd (DEPL), to vertically integrate key associated businesses.”
