David Gabriel Georges rebuked “negative media coverage, false narratives and unfair assumptions” about his character and family in a statement following his commitment to Tennessee football on Wednesday.
“What should have been one of the meaningful and joyful moments of my life has, at times, been overshadowed by negative media coverage, false narratives and unfair assumptions about both my character and my family,” Gabriel Georges wrote in a statement posted to X. “I understand the passion, excitement and pride that college football inspires and I have respect for every fan base and every program involved in this process. However, any form of harassment and the spread of misinformation is simply unnecessary and uncalled for.”
Gabriel Georges chose the Vols over Ohio State and Ole Miss, committing as a 5-star running back and top-10 prospect to Josh Heupel and Tennessee.
“This decision was mine and was made through careful thought, prayer and countless conversations with those I trust most,” Gabriel Georges wrote. “I respectfully ask that my decision be honored and that people refrain from making assumptions or spreading false information.”

Gabriel Georges is the No. 9 prospect in the nation, according to Rivals. The 5-foot-11, 220-pound Gabriel Georges is the No. 2 running back and the top-ranked prospect from Tennessee, which is where he now will stay to play college football.
In the happier portion of the statement, Gabriel Georges opened by thanking “God for his countless blessing and for faithfully guiding me throughout this journey.” He expressed “sincere gratitude” to his family, coaches, mentors, teammates and friends.
He then condemned the way information circled around during his recruitment before turning to gratitude and looking toward the future.
Gabriel Georges stated he is focused on finishing his final high school year strong both as a student and a football player before arriving at Tennessee.
“I can’t to begin this next chapter, represent my new program with pride and continue chasing my dreams,” he wrote. “The future is bright and I am excited for everything that is still to come.”
