Jessica Shepard will be busy throughout the WNBA's All-Star weekend.
On Wednesday, the Dallas Wings announced that their All-Star forward was selected to compete in the WNBA Shooting Stars Contest. The Shooting Stars Contest is scheduled to take place at 7 p.m. Friday, along with the WNBA 3-point contest. Both contests will take place at Wintrust Arena in Chicago.
Rookie guard Azzi Fudd will compete in the 3-point contest.
Shepard will team up with three-time WNBA champion Deanna "Tweety" Nolan for the Shooting Stars Contest. Shepard and Nolan will represent the Dallas/Detroit market in the contest, and they will face off with teams from the league's Minnesota, Seattle and Washington markets. Nolan played for the Detroit Shock (now the Dallas Wings) from 2001-09, winning WNBA titles in 2003, 2006 and 2008.
Shepard and Nolan will also team up with a high school player from the Nike Girls EYBL.
The Shooting Stars Contest is a two-round, timed competition. All competing teams have 70 seconds to score as many points as possible from seven shooting locations around the court. The competition features shots ranging from a layup to a long-range 3-pointer, with the two teams posting the highest scores in the opening round advancing to the championship round.
Shepard will also compete in the WNBA All-Star Game on Saturday night at United Center in Chicago. She will be joined by star guard Paige Bueckers in the matchup.
