Age of Umbra: Sallowlands is an ongoing miniseries from Critical Role, set in Matthew Mercer's Age of Umbra setting for Daggerheart. The adventure stars Mercer in his usual capacity as Dungeon Master, with a player cast that consists of Jennifer English, Abubakar Salim, Laura Bailey, Zachery Renauldo and Vico Ortiz.
Fans of the miniseries will be happy to find out that Critical Role (via Darrington Press) is releasing an official tie-in adventure frame for Age of Umbra: Sallowlands, designed by Jack Panic of DNGN Club. As revealed by Wargamer, the physical module will be available to purchase at Darrington Press' GenCon (July 30–August 2) for $5, while a free digital PDF version will become available on Darrington's website on August 12.
Road to Nowhere is a Mad Max-style Adventure
Age of Umbra is a campaign frame set within the Halcyon Domain. After a God-King betrayed the domain's divine rulers, they abandoned the realm, turning a once thriving land into one of despair, ruin and darkness. The core storytelling mechanism of the setting is with the small communities of people who continue to survive and endure in the hellish conditions of their light-starved home.
If you're interested in venturing into the Halycon Doman yourself, Age of Umbra is one of the campaign frames included in Daggerheart's core set. Road to Nowhere, which will be free after August 12, offers another entry point into the setting.
"Travelling at breakneck speeds for a week at a time is the convoy-city of Nowhere — a horrifying collection of mechanical vehicles, called Deadrigs, daisy-chained into three sprawling mega-structures that race across both the living highway's back and the arid sands of the Sallowlands," reads Road to Nowhere's synopsis.
Well, that description, combined with the cover, certainly gives Mad Max vibes. I, for one, certainly hope that we get to pilot our own Deadrig across a Living Highway because, even without context, that sounds like the coolest thing ever.
As for the immediate future of Daggerheart, the tabletop RPG's first expansion, Hope & Fear, is set to release later this year, featuring new campaign frames, ancestries, communities and environments.
The expansion is set for early release in August, and a wider release in September.
