Micheal Clemons' tenure with the Colts
The Colts signed Clemons to a free agent deal this offseason. The contract is for three years and is worth $17 million.
What to know about Micheal Clemons
Clemons was a fourth-round pick by the New York Jets in 2022. Over the last two seasons, Clemons has played at least 575 snaps each year and totaled 45 pressures with six sacks, according to PFF.
Out of 124 eligible defensive ends, Clemons ranked 86th in PFF's pass-rush win rate metric, but in true pass-rush situations, he jumped up to 50th. Also of note, during this most recent season, missed tackles were an issue for Clemons.
Looking ahead to 2026 for Micheal Clemons
While Jaylahn Tuimoloau and Arden Key compete for the starting role opposite Laiatu Latu, the addition of Clemons should bolster the Colts' pass rush depth. He also has the ability to line up inside, as Tyquan Lewis did, potentially filling a similar role as him. The underlying metrics show that Clemons should offer more upside as a pass rusher, however.
Getting more pass rush production from those other than Latu is a must for the Colts, but whether or not Clemons can provide that boost remains to be seen. His previous pass rush production isn't going to leap off the stat sheet.
